Meet Monty, the cutest little cat with the most unique looking face! It’s his facial differences that have sent Monty viral around the web. Monty’s goal is to spread the message that looking different doesn’t mean you can’t be fantastic.
Due to an abnormality known as chromosomal, Monty was born without a nasal bridge bone. This is what grants the cat such a unique looking face, which is just oh-so-adorable! It wasn’t just Monty’s apperance that attracted his owners to him; Monty also has a sweet personality, and is very peaceful. His owners adopted him from a local shelter when he was 3-years old, how a cat this cute could ever end up at a shelter beats me! But his owners scored, getting a cat and a new best friend.
These pictures from Monty’s Facebook prove this kitty is beyond fantastic!
Back in Monty’s animal shelter days he was forced to share a room with some rather aggressive cats, but Monty never got into any trouble because of his limited aggression and lack of desire to pick a fight. Anyone that has owned a cat knows that most cats have a little ‘hiss’ in them, especially when it comes to other cats. Monty sure is a one-of-a-kind sweet kitty!
Besides some breathing issues, and more frequent sneezing than your typical cat, Monty lives a happy life. He spends most of his time loving on everyone he can, no matter how many legs they have.
Due to chromosome defects, Monty does have a few health issues. For one he has a leaky/loose bladder condition that causes him to urinate in his sleep about 2-3 times a month. Thank goodness for the washing machine!
Unlike many other naughty pussy cats around the world, Monty would never even dream of going to the bathroom outside of his liter box. His owners say that after he notices he has tinkled he acts “embarrassed.” They try to make him feel better about it though, because it’s a problem they all have to learn to deal with for life since it is an uncontrollable condition.
There is no one Monty loves to cuddle with more than his dad. According to his owner, “He loves lying on your lap and at night he’ll keep you company, not leaving your side until you wake up.” The family has been living with Monty for just over a year, and has loved every moment of it from the very beginning.
Monty’s previous owner had a few too many animals and in attempt to consolidate Monty was sent to a shelter. Here his current owners found and fell in love with him. Monty gained a whole new family, including 2 cat siblings, a “gentle giant” and a three-legged feline.
Monty is also very brave; in fact his owners can’t recall him being afraid very many times. Even going to the vet is a ‘whatever’ occasion to this Buddha-like cat. When Monty does start to feel threatened or unhappy, he uses a simple meow to alert his owners–never once have they seen him show his claws, let alone use them.
Monty is such a sensation he even has his own line of products, including mugs, pillows, sweatshirts, and t-shirts that feature his picture alongside words to the tune of, “I’m not perfect but PAWSOME!”
His owners, “Wish for Monty to be an ambassador for ‘crooked’ cats or cats that may not look perfect in everyone’s eyes!” Just because something looks off or imperfect doesn’t mean it is ugly. In fact, what makes you different is exactly what makes you beautiful–feline or human.
