Dad Makes Beautiful Jewelry From Scrap Metal

Imagine finding out in early adulthood that your dad is capable of creating amazingly beautiful jewelry you actually want to wear? Talk about a newly discovered score! This scenario actually happened to Carolina Breeze, a 23-year-old film student “from a little country somewhere in the world.”

After losing his job, Carolina’s father put his creative talents to good use, creating gorgeous jewelry out of scrap metal. When he showed his daughter what he had been up to Carolina’s entire world flipped upside down. She was full of love and admiration for her father, and she was also excited for her new supply of unique and free jewelry–who wouldn’t be?!

The first piece he brought to his daughter was an oversized pendant. Carolina couldn’t believe what her father had used to construct it. The exquisite pendant was made with ugly beads repurposed from Carolina’s old jewelry, and some copper wire stripped from an old radio. “My father had never made jewelry before, and there it was, simple yet perfect and annoyingly beautiful.”

Now, anyone can buy the unique collection of recycled jewelry made from scrap metal. The father daughter duo opened shop, selling the unique jewelry line on their Etsy shop, Calisto.

Carolina writes on Bored Panda, “About a year ago, my father (45) came to me and showed me a piece of jewelry he made out of scrap metal. The jewelry junkie inside me felt like my world had just turned upside down.”

Carolina’s father is full of talents. “My father is a real modern polymath: he draws beautifully with both hands, carves sculptures out of wood, used to be a tattoo artist for a while and now, he makes beautiful jewelry,” Carolina writes.

This piece is known as the Celestial Sphere #1:

“I was full of surprise, admiration and love for my father who just lost his job but still remained a creative person that never stopped using his hands to bring some beauty and magic to the world.”

Immediately after seeing her father’s first creation, Carolina wanted to help him further his natural talent for jewelry making. The two began to collaborate together, making many more pieces and getting better at the craft. In September 2014, Carolina and her father opened up for business on Etsy. A monumental moment Carolina never saw coming.

Carolina’s father now make all sorts of awesome jewelry, including bracelets, necklaces, rings, earrings and even hairpins with unmatched gorgeous detailing.  They also offer some rather hip styles, such as comfortable ear-cuffs. Not all ear-cuffs can be described as comfortable, but according to real customer reviews, Calisto has comfort figured out.
