Some guys sure know how to pop the question. Justin Lebon is one of those guys. The dapper dude met his girlfriend Michal Ott on Match.com, but come to find out the two actually grew up on the same street in California—talk about meant to be.
When Lebon knew it was time to pop the big question he hired wood-worker Mark Becker to assist him in making a custom Monopoly board. The board was made with personalized locations, a special “Chance” card, loaded dice, and of course a secret compartment with a beautiful ring. Now that is a guy with some serious game, literally!
Lebon wrote on Reddit, “I handed her a pair of loaded dice. They would only allow her to roll a 7. The number she needed to land on Chance. That’s where I put the ‘will you marry me card.’ She reads the chance card out loud ‘…Will you marry me?’ and said ‘is this REAL!?’ The card read, “If yes advance to luxury tax.”
When Ott moved her piece to the space marked luxury tax, Lebon dropped down to one knee and fetched the ring from the secret compartment located on the board. To make things even more magical, Lebon orchestrated the entire proposal on Christmas morning.
The couple has always loved playing Monopoly together, but this game was unlike any other.
“I knew years ago that Michal was the one, but it was a few months ago I decided I was going to ask Michal to marry me on Christmas morning.”
“Michal unwraps the present and instantly sees the board game lay out and says ‘a Monopoly board!’”
Thanks to the loaded dice, Michal on Chance “where I put the ‘will you marry me card.’”
“I took the wire key and popped open a secret door underneath the luxury tax…I took the ring out and slipped in on her finger. It fit perfect too.”
A beautiful ring and a beautiful proposal!
“She loved every second of the proposal, and I’m glad she did. It took a lot of planning, but I enjoyed every second of it.”
