After you complete all of the steps and pair your device with a special “hologram-ready” video your smartphone will produce the illusion that your video is a floating 3D image.

You only need a few simple things you likely have around the house to get started.

What You Need:

An old CD case
A sharp knife
Tape
A pen
A ruler
Graph paper

The videos made for this device play the same roll of film in all four directions; this causes what looks like a 3D hologram thanks to the reflection from the panes of your DIY creation. Play the video below to see the DIY 3D hologram in action.

While the end results sure look 3D they technically only rely on 2D images/videos to produce the effect. A true hologram by definition recreates a 3D object, and in the current world of technology this requires split laser beams. Either way, these holograms still look 3D and are every bit as cool.
